Alexandria, A Quick History

Alexandria has got a lot of history behind it, a quick look at the Wikipedia page will confirm that. From its origins in 331BC, founded by Alexander the Great and numerous wars, to the city we know today as the ‘Pearl of the Mediterranean’, it is the second largest city in Egypt.
Today, it has more of a Mediterranean feel that Middle Eastern, even though it is not very far from Cairo. It’s climate too shows Mediterranean characteristics with January and February being the coldest months and July and August the hottest.
If you want to keep cool during the hot months, the Radisson Blu hotel in Alexandria has two outdoor pools, as well as an open air garden and is located close to the airport and just a short drive from the main attractions.
Alexandria main tourism season is the summer, with its wealth of beaches, as well as museums and the Library of Alexandria.
